Riding forward into 2009!

It's the first day of the new year, 2009. It's a really good time to reflect and count my blessings. I thank God for blessing me throughout 2008 and the many years before.

Many events happened in my life in 2008, some pleasant and definitely not-so-pleasant. I've achieved things that I've set out to do! And also, things that came along that were unexpected too! 2008 was also a year of many "1st times" in my life - attempting things that I've never done or never thought that I would!

The 1st half of 2008 was totally busy juggling my previous "crazy-everyday don't get enough sleep" full-time job and undergraduate studies.

The 2nd half of 2008 was the portion that was really metamorphic!

In June, I tendered my resignation and quit my job as an audio engineer to concentrate on my studies fully. Instead, I took on a part-time job as a web graphic editor.

Due to the new-found time I've gotten from the resignation, I finally had the time to meet Zhehong. I was putting off the meet for a couple of months due to my very busy work schedule! It's in June that I've marked 2 milestones in my life - reverting back to a student status + having the first boyfriend in my life. Life has been great with Zhehong around.

I obtained my class 2A license in July and got my Super 4 in the same month! It was a dream come true for me. I was thinking about riding a Super 4 even before I registered for 2B course!!

I did my 1st tour to Malaysia and that is to Melaka in August. That was my 1st trip and that was the 1st time I got into an accident! Imagine... 1st accident on the North-South Highway... my left knee was very seriously injured. I really am blessed that I didn't break any bones and ligaments.

I was out of action for nearly 2 months. I was limping very badly. I even had problems wearing my socks properly. I couldn't ride my bike. I had to make daily trips to the polyclinic. That period was the lowest point in my life.

However, I managed to get back to riding and I did my 2nd tour to Malaysia - Cameron Highlands in November. On top of that, I did the Melaka run again. I was able to overcome my fear and psychological barrier. (I cried when I pass by that stretch of road along Pagoh...)

Moving on, I did my 1st Thai tour to Betong and Penang about 2 weeks back! It was a golden opportunity for me to learn a lot more about the different road conditions in Thailand!

Although I had my fair share of setbacks, I was blessed with family support as well as the support of Zhehong.

2008 was a fulfilling year and I'm hopeful and pray to God that 2009 will be an abundant year of blessings! Let's ride forward into 2009 with zeal!

2009... I hope to be able to go beyond South Thailand!
